Sand Jack O Lantern Craft

After doing crafts with children for a while you learn that very few things attract a kid's attention like a bowl full of colored sand. This is a wonderful craft to make with children of all ages. Our daughter loved playing in the sand which makes this a great sensory activity. She also enjoyed carefully spooning the sand into the container which made this a fun fine-motor skill game as well. We added a funnel to the craft for even more fun. This craft does have a bit of a mess associated with it, but we think it's worth it in the end!

What you'll need: Clean, empty baby food jar Black sharpee marker Green paint Paint brush Green construction paper or foam Glue Scissors Colored sand (available at craft stores) Spoon How to make your Sand Jack O Lantern Craft: Paint the lid to the baby food jar green. We found it easiest to dab the paint on - it's not the easiest surface to paint. Draw the face of your jack-o-lantern onto the jar using the marker. Fill the jar with sand. We used orange for one and all the fall colors for another. A spoon and a funnel make this fun. Screw the lid back onto the jar. Cut a leaf out of green paper or foam and glue it to the top of the jar. Please add a comment
